The Whirlpool family at the EuroCucina 2016 expo in Milan

From 12 - 17 April 2016, we visited the “Salone del Mobile Milano”. This is one of the most important international trade fairs on household furnishings. It dates all the way back to 1961. Read about the observations we brought back from the expo.

Introduction of the trade fair and EuroCucina expo

The Salone del Mobile Milano 2016 international trade fair was a showcase of excellent design and smart technologies of the future. Over 2,000 exhibitors were presented in more than 20 halls. One of the highlights of the trade fair is the EuroCucina expo, where we were most interested in pavilion “FTK” which focussed on the latest kitchen technologies.

Small household is the main topic for appliances

Topic no. 1 for household appliances was definitely the “smart homeconcept. The interconnection of individual appliances and their remove control creates vast opportunities for the future. You will not have to assist anymore as a user in a number of activities, leaving you more time and energy for yourself.

The Whirlpool Corporation family introduced new designs and technologies

The Whirlpool brand family stand spread over an impressive 1,700 m2. The designers created it as an apartment space so that visitors could better visualise and use the new products and technologies in a realistic space.

·       Whirlpool and 6th Sense live

The Whirlpool brand focussed on smart technologies and introduced the innovation of its flagship – 6th Sense live. With this technology, you can now control your appliances remotely via a smartphone app. One of the products it introduced was the Smart Cook intelligent induction cooktop with assisted cooking.

 ·       KitchenAid introduced home freezers

If you are waiting for the chance to buy large appliances to go with your small KitchenAid helpers, you now have the chance – KitchenAid introduce gorgeous retro refrigerators at the expo, with colours matching the existing small appliances.

·       Hotpoint introduced built-in appliances wreathed with awards

This year, built-in appliances stood out at the Hotpoint stand. They perfectly combine refined design with the most advanced functions - and were rightfully in the crosshairs of customers and experts. For instance, the latest built-in oven boasts the Red Dot Design 2016 award.

·       Indesit and the clever “Turn & Cook App”

One of the most appealing gadgets from Indesit was the clever Turn & Cook app - ideal for those who have some ingredients at home and are looking for inspiring recipes. With this app, you just take a photo of the ingredient and the mobile phone itself will suggest the best recipes.

Although the expo did not reveal much more than the IFA 2015 trade fair in Berlin, we really enjoyed the trip to Milan and we are already looking forward to being able to offer all of the aforementioned novelties to you in our e-shop. For now, you can view the photo gallery from the Salone del Mobile Milano trade fair on Facebook.
